Fibre Channel Network Emulators
- Validate performance in the presence of delay
- Detect and handle bit errors
- Accommodate dropped frames and loss of signal
Anue Fibre Channel Network Emulators are ideal for testing remote data storage, backup and recovery solutions in a lab environment. Fibre Channel Network Emulators can reproduce the delay and impairments experienced by Fibre Channel traffic as it travels over long distances of optical fiber.
Anue Fibre Channel Network Emulators:
- Run 100% line rate traffic from 1Gbps to 10Gbps
- Supports all standard FC frame formats & functions regardless of frame size
- Can be automated or operated interactively, locally or remotely
- Are accurate down to one bit time increments
- Provide network latency of 250ms or more at all bit rates
The Fibre Channel Network Latency Emulator is available on a 2U rack-mount chassis that supports up to 7 software loads. There are two platforms available:
- The Maui platform supports up to four blades and data rates up to 2.6Gbps.
- The Hawaii platform supports up to two blades and data rates up to 11.3Gbps.
Supported rates
- 1Gbps
- 2Gbps
- 4Gbps
- 8Gbps
- 10Gbps
Delay/Jitter
- Insert from 50us to 250ms of packet delay in 1-bit-time increments with the standard configuration at true full line rate.
- Introduce delay transparently without modifying code words or inter-frame gap.
- Increase maximum latency with a Delay Doubler and Quadrupler (even greater delay amounts are available upon request).
Error
- Set error rates from 10-17 to 10-3.
- Error from 1 bit to 64k bits with all ones, all zeroes, inverting bits or inserting a PRBS.
- Inject errors at a fixed rate (periodic) or randomly with a Uniform, Poisson or Gaussian distribution.
- Error 1 bit, 32 contiguous bits or a 32-bit user-defined error pattern.
- Target specific bytes for error or modification.
Drop
- Set frame-drop rate from every frame to 1 in 64,000 frames.
- Replace dropped frames with idles or repeat the last word.
- Drop frames at a fixed rate (periodic) or randomly with a Uniform, Poisson or Gaussian distribution.
Alarms
- Emulate loss of signal and loss of frame.
Operation
- Configure via a front panel LCD control for standalone operation
- Configure remotely via an Ethernet control port
- Interactive: Browser-based GUI with save/load capability
- Automated: Powerful TCL script library

Note: Up to 7 software loads for different protocols (SONET, OTN, Ethernet, Fibre Channel, CPRI) can be combined on the same system. A combo network latency system can easily switch between different features, data rates and protocols, simplifying testing and leveraging your investment. See Combination Network Emulator products
