Anue Systems Announces the Highest-Density 10G and First 40G-Capable Network Monitoring Switch
September 14, 2011
AUSTIN, Texas – To help large enterprises monitor the increasing number of 1G, 10G and 40G ports with existing monitoring tools, Anue Systems introduces the highest-density 10G and first 40G-capable network monitoring switch.
The Anue 5288 Net Tool Optimizer™ (NTO), which packs up to 64 10G ports into a compact 2-RU form factor provides network engineers and IT managers a migration path for their organizations to move to 40G networks while protecting investments in existing 10G and 1G monitoring and security tools.
"Infrastructure and operations managers are using every piece of real estate optimally to rack servers, storage, and other equipment. Ports and physical space are at a premium,” wrote Andre Kindness, Senior Analyst, in the August 2011 report by Forrester Research Inc., The Data Center Network Evolution: Three Core Network Management Tools. "To address these [physical] constraints, I&O professionals are turning to monitoring switches for their data centers; these devices can collect flows from all the span links and taps on a network and share them with multiple monitoring and management tools."
A High-Density, Flexible Solution with Proven Reliability
For network managers who need to connect a diverse set of tools, the 5288 NTO provides a flexible and scalable solution to combine 1G, 10G and 40G interface modules to fit specific monitoring needs. The 5288 NTO’s small footprint helps IT organizations save valuable data center space and reduce energy costs. Additionally, the product’s high-availability features deliver uninterrupted monitoring.
“Our customers have large 10G networks and are beginning to plan and deploy 40G networks,” said Keith Cheney, senior vice president at Anue Systems. “The 5288 NTO is a direct response to their requests for a cost-effective, high-density network monitoring switch that also allows them to address their 40G monitoring requirements. Our two-rack-unit 5288 NTO product gives them a compact, high-density solution for both 10G and 40G that they truly appreciate.”
First Network Monitoring Switch to Support 40G Networks
The rapidly growing use of virtualization and bandwidth-hungry, media-rich Web content is driving service providers and Fortune 500 enterprises to upgrade their networks to 40G. Until now, there has not been a solution to easily address the need for monitoring high-bandwidth, 40G networks. With the introduction of the Anue 5288 NTO, network managers can upgrade to 40G today while taking advantage of the flexibility and high-density 10G capabilities in the same product.
As IT organizations and service providers deploy and operate their new 40G networks, they need the same monitoring, diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities used with their 1G and 10G networks. However, 40G network monitoring tools are not yet available and in some cases, the volume of 40G traffic can overwhelm a monitoring tool. The Anue 5288 NTO helps engineers monitor 40G networks and filter the traffic to match the speed and capacity of the monitoring tool.
The 5288 NTO builds on Anue’s successful 5200 Series of network monitoring switches for 1G and 10G networks. As with all Anue network monitoring switches, a simple software license key configures the exact number and types of ports needed. As the network grows, network engineers can license additional ports on a per-port basis. The 5288 NTO also uses the same intuitive, drag-and-drop control panel that sets Anue network monitoring switches apart from the competition.
